Professional snowboarder Chloe Kim is updating her fans on her recent injury.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist took to Instagram on January 13 to let fans know what to expect in regards to her shoulder injury going forward.

She began the video by explaining that she went to get an MRI of her shoulder on January 9 and has been in her hotel resting since then.

Unfortunately, the MRI confirmed that Kim did in fact tear the labrum in one of her shoulders during a training run last week in Switzerland.

“There are two ways to do it, and the way I did it is less severe than the other, so I’m really happy about that,” she explained in the video

Even though her tear is a less severe form, Kim still needs to rest and will not be able to compete in the Laax Open January 13 through 16 as she had originally intended.

However, there is some good news: Kim should be sufficiently healed in time to still compete in the Winter Olympics, which are set to take place February 5 through 18 in Italy.

“Obviously, I’m really disappointed that I can’t snowboard until right before the Olympics, which is going to be hard,” Kim said. “I haven’t gotten nearly the amount of reps that I would have liked, but that’s OK.”

She then revealed that she will need to wear a shoulder brace going forward until she is more healed.

In the caption of the post, Kim also thanked everyone who offered her well wishes writing, “hi Hii! here’s an update! Just wanted to say thank you so much for all your kind messages. I’m so grateful to be able to do this even though the lows can get pretty damn low. Excited for a week of exploration! Good luck to everyone competing this week, I’ll be cheering y’all on with a glass of wine in hand 🫶🏼”

In the comments, fans and fellow athletes gave Kim some words of encouragement looking ahead.

“You’ll come back even stronger for the Olympics!! 💪🤍” one fan commented.

“Ahhh labrum tear is what I did on a rail the season after the last Olympics. It’s rough but you’ll make it through!! ❤️” fellow Olympic snowboarder Jenise Spiteri said.
