Warning: Season 2 spoilers of “Tell Me Lies” ahead.
The trailer for Tell Me Lies season 3 just dropped, and things are already explosive.
Season 2 of the show ended on a jaw-dropping cliffhanger: Stephen (Jackson White) sent Bree (Catherine Missal) a recording of Evan (Branden Cook) confessing that he hooked up with Lucy in college on the very day of their wedding.
In the new trailer that was posted on December 17, Lucy warns Stephen, “He’s going to hold this over us forever,” possibly referring to Evan.
Grace Van Patten’s Lucy and Stephen appear ready to try again, but Lucy cautions, “We have to be nice to each other this time.” Stephen fires back, “I want to hurt you and I don’t know how else to do it.”
A synopsis for the new season further explains the plot.
“While they promise things will be different this time, past indiscretions hinder their best intentions, and Lucy finds herself embroiled in a controversy she wants nothing to do with. Meanwhile, the disastrous repercussions from the previous year also force Lucy and Stephen’s friends to face their own destructive behaviors. As scandalous secrets fester around campus, vicious consequences threaten Lucy and everyone in her circle,” the description reads.
Reflecting on the second season’s finale, the show’s writer Meaghan Oppenheimer said, “I initially didn’t think he was going to play the recording at the wedding. I rewrote the ending very last minute because the blow-up had to happen.”
“That need for revenge carries into season three. Stephen is able to control his anger and use it to his advantage; he’s rarely explosive or impulsive. Lucy and Stephen still have a cat-and-mouse game with each other,” she continued.
Tell Me Lies Season 3 premieres January 13, 2026 with two episodes on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for U.S. bundle subscribers, and on Disney+ internationally.
