Kylie Kelce made it clear she’s more than ready for a return to the loft.
The podcast host welcomed actress Zooey Deschanel onto her Not Gonna Lie podcast, where the conversation quickly turned to the possibility of a New Girl reunion, a topic Kelce approached as a devoted superfan.
Kelce didn’t hold back when telling Deschanel just how much the beloved sitcom means to her. “I’ve watched New Girl, I can’t even tell you how many times all the way through. It’s one of my favorite TV shows, so first and maybe most important question for you: when are we getting more?” she asked.
Deschanel, who starred as Jessica Day on the hit Fox comedy, didn’t hesitate with her answer. “I don’t know. I will totally do it though. I’m in. I’m in,” she said, signaling she’d be happy to revisit the role that helped define her career.
While no official plans are in place, Deschanel shared a humorous and very on-brand idea of how a reunion could actually come together.
She joked that co-star Jake Johnson, who played Nick Miller, isn’t exactly eager to leave the house these days.
“Jake Johnson doesn’t like to leave his house much, so we would have to film it at his house,” Deschanel said, adding that she thinks he’d be on board “if it were filmed at his house. One day a week.”
Kelce followed up by asking directly whether a New Girl reunion could actually happen. Deschanel once again made it clear she’d be open to the idea. “We don’t have anything planned, but like again, I’m up for it,” she said.
Kelce then said, “So I just need to rally the troops.”
New Girl aired for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018 and was a major hit during its run.
The Fox comedy drew strong ratings, earned award nominations, and developed a devoted fan base that has only grown through streaming in the years since making calls for a reunion as loud as ever.
