Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) sings to Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) about how she can’t believe that he wants to be with her and Fiyero responds that he’s “fallen” under her spell and he’s now seeing things differently.
Elphie sings, “Just for this moment / As long as you’re mine / I’ve lost all resistance / And crossed some borderline / And if it turns out / It’s over too fast / I’ll make every last moment last / As long as you’re mine.”
At the end of the song, Elphaba admits that she feels “wicked” for the first time.
Director Jon M. Chu has opened up about the moment when Elphaba and Fiyero fly together while singing to each other.
“Like a Warner Bros. cartoon, they fly in the air when they’re in love,” he told EW. “And then, just as you’re almost getting so far away from two people on their knees, you land with them on their knees, together.”
“It’s a tricky one because you’re like, ‘How big do you make his reaction of Whoa, how’d you do that? But he’s such a good actor. That was the relief, I could just throw crazy ideas at them and they would find the truth in it,” he added.
