Raise a glass to the all-new cast of Vanderpump Rules — just don’t compare them to the OGs.
Us Weekly has your exclusive intro to the 10 instant reality stars you’ll meet in season 12 — back at Lisa Vanderpump‘s West Hollywood hotspot SUR December 2 at 9 p.m. on Bravo, next day on Peacock — and the group convinced Us that they are ready to make their own mark.
“Do I think it’s the old Vanderpump? No. I think it’s completely different. Is it going to have drama like the old Vanderpump? Yes. Is it going to have a lot of sex like the old Vanderpump? Yes. Am I involved in some of that? You bet your ass,” Shayne Davis says in the new issue of Us. “If you give this a shot, you’re really gonna love it … or hate-watch it.”
Us asked all of the newbies if they could use a past SURver to describe their role in the group, and the overwhelming response was no — they don’t want to be compared to the likes of Jax Taylor, Stassi Schroeder, Tom Schwartz, Tom Sandoval, Katie Maloney, Kristen Doute, James Kennedy and more.
“I’m gonna shoot you straight. … I am still looking on this planet Earth to find somebody that reminds me of myself,” Marcus Johnson — a character who fans will surely have a lot of opinions on, as do his costars — tells Us.
Marcus’ off-again, on-again girlfriend, Kim Suarez, has a slightly more humble take.
“People are understandably so eager to make those comparisons — just out of their love for the OGs — but there’s no comparison. Everybody is completely different from the old cast,” she says. “Everyone in this cast has their own thing going for them. I think people are going to be really pleasantly surprised once they start to get to know everybody. There’s similarities, but it’s not in the way that people are going to want to be able to compare.”
Not long after meeting the cast via Zoom, Us went to BravoCon and got a first look at the season 12 premiere, which includes SUR security footage of bartender Natalie Maguire nearly attacking her mutual ex-boyfriend with manager Demy Selem. The messy overlap and black-and-white footage had Us more than intrigued.
“Natalie is ferocious,” Shayne says with a laugh. Of also being called “crazy” by one of her costars, Natalie admits to Us, “At this point, I’ve just adopted the mantra, ‘Your problem with me is yours.’ People can call me whatever they want to call me, but I am the worst liar of all time. You’re never gonna get a lie from me, but you might get a crash out.”
