This November, DoorDash and Gopuff are teaming up to make grocery shopping easier amidst the government shutdown.
The two companies will be offering free food, waived delivery fees, and major discounts throughout the month for individuals who have lost their SNAP benefits.
What Gopuff is doing:
Gopuff has pledged up to $10 million in free groceries for SNAP users. Eligible customers will receive two $25 credits which is a total of $50 to use on SNAP-approved items.
Here’s how it works:
- Add your SNAP EBT card to your Gopuff account.
- Fill your cart with SNAP-eligible groceries.
- Use the code SNAPRELIEF1 between Nov. 1–15 for $25 off and free delivery.
- Use the code SNAPRELIEF2 between Nov. 16–30 for another $25 off and free delivery.
What DoorDash is doing:
DoorDash is launching an Emergency Food Response this month to help families facing food challenges.
- They will be delivering 1 million free meals in total. DoorDash will work with 300+ Project DASH food bank partners across the country and waive merchant fees throughout November.
- Free grocery deliveries: The company will waive delivery and service fees on 300,000 grocery orders for SNAP participants shopping at Sprouts, Dollar General, Schnucks, Ahold Delhaize brands, Hy-Vee, Giant Eagle, and Wegmans.
- Food bank donations: DashMart stores will also donate fresh food, household essentials, and shelf-stable items to food banks in affected areas.
In a press release, Max Rettig, Vice President and Global Head of Public Policy at DoorDash said, “No one should go hungry in America – period. Millions of families are worried right now about how they’ll put food on the table. Fighting hunger is core to our mission at DoorDash, and we’re stepping up alongside leading grocers and retailers to help bridge the gap. We know this is a stopgap, not a solution. But doing nothing simply isn’t an option.”
With both Gopuff and DoorDash stepping up, SNAP recipients have more ways to save money and get the groceries they need delivered straight to their door.
