Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are currently starring in Waiting for Godot at the Hudson Theatre. Alex’s Broadway debut was the Yul Brynner production of The King and I when he was 13 years old. Waiting for Godot is Keanu’s Broadway debut. They talk about how they met when they auditioned for Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and how they would go to each other’s apartments to jam together (despite both of them playing the bass guitar).

They said they have wanted to find a non-Bill & Ted project to do for a while. About three and a half years when Keanu was in a fugue state, he had an epiphany that it should be waiting for Godot so he FaceTimed Alex and said, “YOU ME GODOT.” Alex also mentioned that Keanu loves to FaceTime but Alex doesn’t.

part 2: Keanu and Alex talk about the themes of Godot, the set (described as an eye, a tunnel, a vortex, a subwoofer, a Habitrail, a sewer, the circuits of time, a tree cross section, a conch shell, a sphincter, the gun barrel from James Bond’s opening credits), and their pre-show rituals

part 3: Alex has a black comedy with Josh Gad, Billie Lourd, and Anthony Carrigan called Adulthood which was released a few weeks ago. Keanu’s new movie Good Fortune opens this weekend. Somehow despite all of the action movies he has done, Good Fortune was the first time he had a major injury on set, fracturing his patella.
