Keith Urban’s ‘You’ll Think of Me’ Lyric Change Sparks Debate

A particularly passionate moment during one of Keith Urban’s recent concerts is going viral amid the singer’s divorce from Nicole Kidman. However, his longtime fans are saying it’s nothing new.

Urban, 57, performed his 2003 breakup ballad “You’ll Think of Me” during the acoustic set of his concert at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia, on October 4, just as he has throughout his High and Alive Tour. However, a now-viral clip of the performance shared by a fan via TikTok shows one moment where he seemingly sang with more emotion than what some considered to be usual as he changed a few lyrics.

Instead of singing, “You’ll think of me,” Urban shouted, “But I betcha think about me!” Then, he inserted the phrase “your stupid bulls*** reasons” into the lyric, “Take your space and take your reasons.”

This marked the second time Urban sang the song this way since Us Weekly confirmed his separation from Kidman, 58, on September 29. (Us also confirmed that the Babygirl actress filed for divorce the following day.) He made the same lyric change during his October 2 show at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania — his first concert since the split news broke.

Keith Urban appeared on stage for the first time since his divorce from wife Nicole Kidman made headlines. The singer did not wear his wedding ring and was in good spirits during his Thursday, October 2, concert at Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, which Us Weekly attended. While performing “Kiss a Girl,” Urban took a […]

In the comments section of the TikTok video, fans noted Urban’s passion and drew possible connections to his breakup from Kidman.

“Keith Urban crashing out on stage was not on my 2025 Bingo card,” one user wrote.

Another fan added, “He is hurting 😭.” Meanwhile, a third person commented, “He is obviously angry.”

However, other fans pointed out that Urban has been singing “You’ll Think of Me” this way for years.

“For reference: he has literally sang this extra verse for 15 years!” one user wrote.

A second person added, “It’s really clear in the comments who has been to his shows and who are trying to draw conclusions from one video. He has always performed with this passion!”

In another comment, the second fan continued, “He sang the end of this song in this way in 2022 … listen to the live version. It’s nothing new.”

One TikToker even shared footage of Urban performing the song with the altered lyrics at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville as part of his The Speed of Now World Tour in October 2022.

“Keith Urban singing ‘You’ll Think of Me’ prior to divorce news. Proof that he has always sang this song that way,” the fan wrote in the caption.

It’s worth noting that other videos on TikTok show Urban performing the song with the tweaked lyrics at his High and Alive Tour stops prior to the split news. Still, the rendition is gaining traction amid the divorce.

Urban and Kidman were married for 19 years and share daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. Kidman cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, per her divorce filing obtained by Us. She also submitted a marital dissolution agreement, which included a parenting plan, a child support plan and a “parenting seminar order.”

Another song lyric change that has made headlines amid the divorce came during Urban’s performance of “The Fighter” with utility player Maggie Baugh in Chicago on September 25. In the original track, which was inspired by Kidman, Urban sings, “When they’re tryna get to you, baby, I’ll be the fighter.” However, Urban changed the lyric to give Baugh, 25, a shoutout.

“When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player,” he sang.

Amid speculation that Maggie played a role in the end of Urban’s marriage to Kidman, her father, Chuck Baugh, shut down the rumors via Facebook on October 1.

“NO. Just No,” he wrote while sharing a TikTok video claiming that Maggie may “allegedly [be] the person responsible for Keith’s divorce from Nicole Kidman.”

Maggie was not present at Urban’s concerts in Pennsylvania and Virginia. The country singer has also not performed “The Fighter” on stage since the split news.
