Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, paid a sweet tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II on Instagram, marking three years since the monarch’s death.
In an emotional post, Ferguson reflected on her personal connection with the Queen, who was the late mother of her ex-husband, Prince Andrew. She wrote, “Today marks three years since the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty will be forever loved, always missed, and never forgotten.”
Queen Elizabeth passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on September 8, 2022, at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
In her Instagram post, Ferguson went on to lovingly note, “Not a day goes by when I don’t think of the kindness I was unstintingly shown in good times and bad. Caring for Her Majesty’s beloved corgis is an honour and a daily reminder of the times we shared together.”
The 65-year-old, who was married to Prince Andrew from 1986 to 1996, has maintained a close friendship with her ex-husband despite their divorce.
Ferguson also clearly shared a special bond with the late queen, who entrusted her with the care of her beloved corgis, Sandy and Muick, a gesture that highlighted the deep trust and affection between them.
Queen Elizabeth was famously known for her love of corgis and owned more than 30 throughout her lifetime.
Just last month, the Duchess of York shared an adorable picture of Muick and Sandy, captured in a picture-perfect fall photoshoot. Commenters on the post praised the bond between Ferguson and the Queen, leaving sentimental notes such as, “The fact she wanted you to care for them says everything we need to know.”
Another wrote, “What a wonderful photo. They’re looking well. Glad HM trusted you to care for them. It tells me she loved you. You wouldn’t leave your beloved dogs with someone you don’t love.”
It’s clear that the late monarch’s beloved dogs are in very good hands!
