Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen Step Out in Rare Public Sightings

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen may live their lives largely out of the spotlight, but this week, the famously private twins stepped out on opposite coasts — and fans couldn’t get enough.

Ashley, 39, made a glamorous red carpet appearance alongside her husband, Louis Eisner, at the 25th Anniversary Young Eisner Scholars (YES) Gala in Bel Air, California, on Thursday, September 4. The outing was not only a rare public date night for the couple, but also a chance for Ashley to support her husband’s family-run nonprofit.

Turning heads, the former child star wore a khaki-colored shirtdress paired with delicate gold drop earrings, her dark hair parted down the middle and cascading over her shoulders. She posed for photos with Louis, 37, and his mother, Lisa Eisner, who stunned in a chic all-white ensemble, while Louis opted for a sleek black suit and teal button-down.

Inside the event, Ashley embraced understated sophistication with a second look: a simple oversized trench coat by The Row — the luxury label she founded with Mary-Kate — in dark beige, styled with black pointed pumps, gold earrings and a brown Row bag. Her sister Elizabeth Olsen also attended, rocking a silky black Rodarte dress with lace details and bold shoulders.

The annual YES Scholars gala highlights the nonprofit’s mission. According to the organization, “YES identifies high-potential students from low-income communities in Los Angeles, New York City, and rural Appalachian North Carolina and provides them with the long-term support, resources, and educational access required for success through high school, college, and career.”

Ashley and Louis, who began dating in 2017, made their red carpet debut at the same gala four years later. They quietly married in 2022 and welcomed their first child in 2023. “Ashley and Louis welcomed their son months ago and are thrilled to be parents,” a source told Us Weekly at the time.

While Ashley made headlines on the West Coast, Mary-Kate, also 39, was spotted in New York City. The fashion mogul attended the U.S. Open on Wednesday, September 3, sitting in the stands with a friend during Day 11 of the tournament. True to her signature bohemian style, she skipped the polished tennis whites in favor of a paisley-print kaftan layered over a crisp white button-up with rolled sleeves. She accessorized with chunky silver and gold rings and a silver necklace, nailing effortless chic.

Though both sisters tend to avoid the public eye, they remain as close as ever.

“We were raised to be discreet people,” Mary-Kate told I-D magazine in June 2021, explaining how the twins always lean on each other. Ashley added, “We definitely go by intuition and instinct, and it can either confirm that feeling, or if we’re both not feeling right about something, for some reason, we just don’t do it. Our instincts are kind of the same. But I think what’s great is that we have each other to lean on.”
