Claire’s, the U.S.-based jewelry and accessories store, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. In a public statement, its chief executive said that the decision is due to several factors, including increased competition, reduced traffic in brick-and-mortars, and macroeconomic factors (a recession, duh.) The chain has 2,750 locations in 17 countries; no word on how many will shut down, if any.
