ONTD TikTok Roundup: Dick-Twerking, Cults, & the Tea App Gets Leaked

Hey, fam! Hope you’re surviving the heat. So, what went on in TikTok land this week?

Since 2020, Bella Poarch’s TikTok of her lip-syncing has been the most-liked video on TikTok, with 71.1 million likes. HOWEVER, two competitors have risen from the ashes: the smiling corgi, which has 52.2 million likes, and a hot girl lip syncing, which has 67.7 million.

    • Possibly the biggest topic on TikTok this week was true crime, including the victim impact speeches from the Bryan Kohberger sentencing, the Amy Bradley documentary, and two incidents of child tr*fficking that took place in Alabama. But sometimes crime videos can be a good thing, like when this video of a white cop punching an unarmed, nonviolent black man during a routine traffic stop went viral.
    • Bad news for the Tea app: It was storing users’ information on an unencrypted database, and someone accessed it and released thousands of female users’ real names and photos.
    • New trend: dwerking, or dick-twerking. It’s when men twerk using their dicks instead of their butts. Of course, women couldn’t let the guys have all the fun, so they invented pwerking and bwerking: pussy-twerking and boob-twerking. (Pwerking can refer to pussy-twerking or penis-twerking, interchangeably.)
    • Trisha Paytas named her third baby Aquaman. She has a daughter named Malibu Barbie and a son named Elvis (ED: This kid is apparently a GIRL?!). There is also a theory that her baby is the reincarnation of Ozzy Osbourne.
    • The latest dance craze is the Innit. It’s to a song by BunnaB and YKNIECE that goes, “I’m talkin’ bout innit/And if he want the cat/He gotta spend it.” You do a dance move that looks like spreading a vajayjay, eating it, and then spending money to eat it again. Young children are doing it, too, including Blue Ivy and Rumi Carter. They might be doing a different dance about Atlanta that someone overlaid with the Innit song? So. There you go.
    • Millenials had planking and the mannequin challenge, Gen Z has the Nicki Minaj Challenge.
    • Two really big TikTokers — CelinaSpookyBoo and KallMeKris — made the transition to film and are starring in a new horror movie, but they’re getting roasted for it because it looks terrible.
    • The bizarre white fundie family du jour is The Collins Family. Matriarch Karissa Collins, 41, went viral for her 12th baby pregnancy reveal, in which you can see the visible frustration and disappointment of several of her other children, especially the oldest daughter. Then, she [cw: pregnancy loss.]had a miscarriage but decided to carry the deceased fetus inside of her until she miscarried naturally. She then posted a video of her kids squishing and hitting her stomach with the deceased fetus still inside of her.
    • Cops have raided the compound for a TikTok cult (thank you, tyinterrupted!)
    • David’s Bridal now offers custom wedding dresses for Labubus.
    • Late July and still no song of the summer! That goddamn Benson Boon knockoff “Ordinary” is still top of the charts. “Illegal” by Pink Pantheress, “Young Black and Rich” by Melly Mike, and “Dame Un Grrr” by Fantomel & Kate Linn are still top streaming sounds, but haven’t quite broken into the mainstream. And, of all the songs in the world, “Let Down” by Radiohead is having big a viral moment.

    Can you bwerk?

I have not tried and I do not plan to find out.
