Olivia Munn is opening up about trichotillomania.
The 44-year-old Newsroom actress, who has been outspoken about having the hair-pulling disorder, recently addressed how it presents in herself, including pulling of her own eyelashes.
“There’s a sensation. It’s probably not even real, but I’ll feel like, ‘Oh, this eyelash feels like it’s gonna come out,’ even though it’s not,” she explained on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast.
“And then when you pull it, there was a quick second of pain. And then there’s a satisfaction and then immediate regret.”

She shared that the condition first presented itself when she was dating Chris Pine. They were together from approximately late 2009 into early 2010.
“So there was a paparazzi shot of he and I, and it was the first time I was in the tabloids,” she noted.
She said she was attending a small event and had asked the costume team on The Daily Show for “the ugliest dress” they had.
“They found this blue old prom dress with big pom poms on the side. And I was like, ‘Oh, wonder if I can make it into the worst best dressed list?’ “ she said, laughing. “And then I did! I couldn’t believe it worked. The fact that I was like, they know who I am to even put me on this list. It was very exciting.”
She said she left Chris‘ apartment, noting, “There were paparazzi outside his house because he had been in Star Trek and all this. And they caught photos of me. I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ And when it got out, one of my friends was like, ‘Hey, you’re dating Chris Pine.’”
Olivia said she then did the “horrible thing” of reading the comments.
“And they were like, ‘I think she set this up. Who’s carrying a clutch during the day?’ “ she said, adding, “That began my trichotillomania.”
She went on to reveal that she and Chris are still in touch.
“He is amazing. We were recently at the SNL 50, and we’re in the airport lounge together, and it was so great to catch up. He’s just the best.”
Olivia since married John Mulaney and the two share son Malcolm, 3, and daughter Méi, 9 months.
