    Guitarist Mick Ralphs has sadly passed away at 81.

    Mick‘s family shared a statement announcing his death on Monday (June 23) but did not share any details on the location or cause of death.

    Mick was a founding member, guitar player, and songwriter for iconic 70s bands Bad Company and Mott the Hoople. Following a stroke in 2016, Mick had been bedridden and was living in an assisted living facility for some time.

    Paul Rogers of Bad Company wrote in the statement about Mick‘s death, “Our Mick has passed, my heart just hit the ground. He has left us with exceptional songs and memories. He was my friend, my songwriting partner, an amazing and versatile guitarist who had the greatest sense of humour. Our last conversation a few days ago we shared a laugh but it won’t be our last. There are many memories of Mick that will create laughter. Condolences to everyone who loved him especially his one true love, Susie. I will see you in heaven.”

    Simon Kirke of Bad Company shared his own condolences in the statement, writing, “He was a dear friend, a wonderful songwriter, and an exceptional guitarist. We will miss him deeply.”
