David Beckham is wishing Prince William a special birthday after the soccer star’s recent knighthood.
“Happy Birthday Prince William x,” Beckham, 50, wrote via his Instagram Stories on Saturday, June 21, over a picture of the pair. In a subsequent post, also shared on his Stories, Beckham shared another photo of himself smiling while shaking Prince William’s at the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards.
“Happy Birthday,” Beckham wrote again, tagging Prince William and Princess Kate’s official Instagram account and posting a red heart emoji.
The Prince of Wales turned 43 on Saturday — an occasion the royal couple marked by sharing a photo of the future King of England enjoying some downtime with three adorable little puppies.
“Happy birthday,” Kate, also 43, wrote in her celebratory Instagram caption. “Love C, G, C, L, Orla and the puppies! 🐾.”
The sweet post was signed by the Princess of Wales and the couple’s three children — Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 — in addition to their Cocker Spaniel, Orla. The family’s dog had welcomed three puppies earlier this year.
Beckham’s tribute comes shortly after he was knighted by King Charles — an accomplishment the soccer star described as a “truly humbling honor.”

“Growing up in East London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honor,” Beckham said via a statement at the time. “To have played for and captained my country was the greatest privilege of my career and literally a boyhood dream come true.”
He continued, “Off the pitch, I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to represent Britain around the world and work with incredible organizations that are supporting communities in need and inspiring the next generation. I’m so lucky to be able to do the work that I do and I’m grateful to be recognized for work that gives me such fulfillment. It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I’m immensely proud and it’s such an emotional moment for me to share with my family.”

Following his knighthood, Beckham can now be called “Sir David Beckham” while his wife Victoria Beckham will be able to be addressed as “Lady Victoria Beckham.”
While David and his family have been celebrating his latest accomplishment, they’ve also been navigating a reported rift. A source previously told Us Weekly that their son, Brooklyn, and his wife, Nicola, “found out about the knighthood through the media” and they have not yet been invited to witness the historic moment when the knighthood ceremony occurs. (A date for the ceremony has yet to be set.)
David and Victoria share four children: Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 13.
