Janelle Monae and Grace Jones are putting on an iconic performance together!
The legendary musicians performed sets as part of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! at the Opening Benefit Concert: Blue Note Jazz Festival & Live Nation Present Grace Jones & Janelle Monáe on Monday night (June 9) at the Lena Horne Bandshell in Brooklyn, New York City.
The event was held in support of BRIC’s free programming.

“What we wanna do is honor icons. Grace Jones is the icons of icons, and she brought me to church, so we gonna take it to church,” Janelle said as she performed on stage, shouting out legends like Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Bootsy Collins.
During her set, Grace performed many of her classics, including “Nightclubbing,” “My Jamaican Guy” and “Slave to the Rhythm,” as well as performing new track “The Key” and sharing the stage with Janelle at the end of her set on “Pull Up to the Bumper.”
Janelle joined Grace for a sip of wine, as Grace powerfully delivered the hit song.
