Sources told the outlet that Netflix chose not to renew its CoComelon license due to a decline in viewership, and that despite airing four new seasons in 2024, the preschool series’ viewership “declined by nearly 60 percent from 2023 H1 to 2024 H2,” according to the streamer’s semi-annual reports.

Netflix will continue to exclusively stream its spinoff Cocomelon Lane, as well as Blippi.

Kids and family programming viewership represents 15% of the streamer’s total viewing, with shows like Sesame Street, Ms. Rachel Peppa Pig, Care Bears and Hot Wheels Let’s Race.

CoComelon is set in the fictional town of Cocomelon, and follows baby JJ and his siblings as they go on fun everyday adventures with nursery, play, exploration and learning. The show began on YouTube.
