Tony Romo shared his thoughts on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance, saying that the relationship has been “net positive” for the tight end.
“People won’t even realize this, but he’s probably doing less than he used to when he was younger,” Tony, 45, told Us Weekly about Travis, 35, amid his romance with Taylor, 35. “If you get your picture taken going to dinner with your superstar girlfriend, it looks like you’re going out or something. No, he just went to dinner. Almost as if he’s married, going to dinner with his wife or something. He didn’t get photographed when he was going out with his buddies all the time.”
Tony added that Travis is “far less out there” than he used to be during the early days of his career. However, Travis has still managed to increase his level of fame and popularity.
“He’s doing far less things than when he was younger. It’s just the fact that if you’re written about a lot and it’s not about football, some people are always going to think that it plays a role,” he said. “But the truth is that it can be a net positive if you look at it closely.”
The retired quarterback went on to say that he’s not worried for Travis’ professional career after his less than stellar 2024-2025 season, which ended with the Kansas City Chiefs losing the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles.
“That was his first whole season being under that microscope,” Tony said, alluding to his high-profile romance with the “Shake It Off” singer. “It was the first full season and offseason where the public and the world knew. Like anybody, we all learn through experience and we get wiser.”
“Not that [Travis] has to do anything,” Tony continued. “The guy is a [future] Hall of Famer who has played at the highest level. He’s won Super Bowls. He’s made some of the biggest plays in the most clutch situations ever. I think he’ll figure things out real quick, even if there was something to figure out. I think everyone should just put their trust in him.”
Tony wrapped up the topic by adding that Travis has found “himself a wonderful, wonderful girlfriend.”
Travis and Taylor first began dating in the summer of 2023, and they confirmed their romance in September of that year when she attended her first Chiefs game alongside his mom, Donna Kelce. The couple has gone on to become one of the most talked about couples in Hollywood. While they have been spotted on many public date nights together, they have been careful not to share too much information about their life behind closed doors.

Tony has become familiar with their relationship while working as a CBS analyst for many of the Chiefs. He’s even confused fans by accidentally calling Taylor Travis’ “wife” during a handful of games during the 2023-2024 season.
Ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, Tony poked fun at the consistent mistake while talking to reporters. “I root for them to get married,” he said about Taylor and Travis in February 2024. “‘Cause they’re not married, guys, I was joking.”
