Billie Eilish and her old friend Nat Wolff sparked romance rumors after being spotted out bar hopping and reportedly packing on the PDA, but a source exclusively tells Life & Style the singer refuses to put any pressure on herself and is avoiding any labels.
“Billie and Nat have gotten very close over the past year,” the source says. The first time they met at a 2024 Oscars afterparty, “they bonded instantly, because they both have Tourette’s syndrome.”
The “You Should See Me in a Crown” singer, 23, said she was diagnosed with the condition, defined as a neurological disorder that may cause sudden unwanted and uncontrolled rapid and repeated movements or vocal sounds called tics by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, when she was just 11. The source notes finding another person with the condition is rare and it’s been a point of bonding between Billie and the Paper Towns star, 30.
“It’s not something a lot of people can relate to, less than 1 percent of people in the world have it, so just it’s not really a surprise that kickstarted their friendship,” the insider continues. A neurological disorder may be a basis for a friendship, but “more than anything, they connected over music,” the source adds.
Nat, who forms half of the band Nat & Alex Wolff with his younger brother Alex. They’ve been playing shows since 2004, when they were called The Naked Brothers Band. Their hit show by the same name, which ran from 2007 to 2009, brought the two national fame as Nickelodeon stars, but they’ve kept on playing and putting out music even after the end of the series and have been refreshing their sound and branding since their childhood days on TV.
The Fault in Our Stars actor previously collaborated with Billie on the song “Soft Kissing Hour” and appeared in her music video for “Chihiro.” The nine-time Grammy winner also invited the two brothers to open for her on HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR, along with The Marias and Towa Bird.
“When she invited Nat and his brother to join her on tour he was over the moon, he still says he can’t believe how lucky he is to have met her,” the insider adds. Despite romantic rumors, the two have insisted their relationship should not be described as such.
“If you ask either of them, they’re just really good friends, but when you see them together it’s obvious their connection is a lot more than platonic,” the source explains.
“They’re very touchy feely, the chemistry is obvious, but neither of them seems to want to label it,” the insider adds. “They spend all their free time together though, so of course people are convinced they’re a couple.”
