Welcome to Hotel Crush, our recurring series where we highlight design-forward, destination-worthy stays around the world—whether you’re planning your next trip or just want a little escape-from-your-browser moment.
There are few things more nostalgic than the idea of building a fort or crawling into a treehouse. That childhood urge to gather blankets, string up lights, and create your own little world doesn’t exactly disappear as you grow up—in fact, it might grow stronger.
Films like The Sandlot or Stand By Me tap into that same dreamy sense of summer adventure, and for some of us, the Magic Tree House book series or Disney’s sprawling Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse planted the fantasy early.
If you’ve ever dreamed of staying in a grown-up version of that, Treehouse Hotel Manchester is basically it.
“It captures the playfulness of childhood—building forts with your friends, acting out your dreams, and experiencing the world with boundless imagination,” says Barry Sternlicht, founder of Starwood Hotels. That sense of wonder shows up everywhere from the cloud-shaped mirrors and leafy green walls to the garden-inspired cocktails served on a rooftop.

Reclaimed materials, vintage furniture, and plenty of greenery keep the space feeling both grounded and lush. Even the hotel’s scent—yes, there’s a custom one—evokes fresh air and blooming flowers.
Opened in March 2025, this is the third location from Treehouse Hotels (following the beloved London flagship and a U.S. debut in Silicon Valley). The brand’s whole ethos centers around “carefreedom”—a mashup of carefree freedom and whimsy but built for grown-up travelers.
The hotel also sits right in Manchester’s city centre, making it the prime home base whether you’re in town for a football match (which those chances are high), a gig, or a weekend of wandering. And while it’s smack in the middle of the action, the inside is cozy—expect more reclaimed wood and patchwork quilts than stark white minimalism.

If you’re traveling with a crew (especially kids), Treehouse Manchester is family-friendly without being kid-centric. Think: teepee setups in rooms, special bath products, and guest rooms that actually give you space to move around. There are 200 guest rooms available now, with more suites—including a luxe Treetop Suite—rolling out later this year.
Food lovers won’t feel left out either. The ground-floor restaurant, Pip, is led by acclaimed chef Mary-Ellen McTague and features a rotating menu with classic British fare. Later this year, the hotel will also open The Nest, a rooftop bar with skyline views and a lineup of live DJs and curated cocktails, as well as Sister Moon, a Southeast Asian-inspired restaurant from chef Sam Grainger.
It also has its own private cinema (The Flix), an artist-in-residence program, and even a playful gym space called The Playground. There’s also an ongoing rotation of workshops, nostalgic board games, and a lobby pop-up called Misfits Market that showcases local makers.

If you’re planning a trip soon, they’re offering some “First Dibs” packages: food and beverage credits, room upgrades, or even 30% off select stays.
Whether you’re booking a summer holiday or just dreaming from your desk, Treehouse Manchester is the kind of hotel that makes you want to grab a book and climb into a cozy corner. And who knows—you might leave feeling like you just stepped out of your own version of the Magic Treehouse.
