Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars Bozoma Saint John and Erika Jayne reacted to Garcelle Beauvais’ departure after learning she had decided to quit the show after five seasons.
“I am disappointed that she is departing like this,” Bozoma, 48, said during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on Tuesday, March 25. “I wish she would have stuck around to work out another season.”
Bozoma, who just joined the cast in season 14, later added, “I don’t think [she left] on a high note.”
While Erika, 53, spent the majority of Watch What Happens Live giving snarky quips about Garcelle’s exit, she did get a bit sentimental toward the end.
“Garcelle, I just really wish you stuck it out. I just really do,” she said. “I know that I’ve been catty tonight. I know you’ll do well, but I just wish you stuck it out.”
Garcelle, 58, announced she was leaving RHOBH just hours before Bravo released the preview for season 14’s explosive reunion.
“Hey guys. So I have some news. I’ve decided to leave Beverly Hills. It’s been a wild ride. I mean, some amazing things have happened, and some hard things have also happened, but it’s been a ride nevertheless,” Garcelle said in a video shared to Instagram. “One of the reasons why I’m leaving is my family, my boys, their last year of high school is next year and I want to be a part of that. And Jade is starting a new career and I want to be a part of that too. And secondly, I have the most exciting projects that I am developing, producing and acting in. I can’t tell you anything right now, but you’ll know soon.”
The mom of one went on to thank several people and organizations including Andy Cohen, NBCUniversal, Bravo and “of course, the ladies” before continuing.
“Andy Cohen says I can come back anytime. The door will always be open, so you never know, I might pop back in sometime. To the fans: I want to say thank you so much. You guys have cheered me on, supported me, and sometimes even fought for me or on my behalf,” Garcelle went on. “It means a lot and I hope you guys will continue on this journey with me. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later — so see you later.”
Fans later got to see the moment Garcelle seemingly made her decision to end her run on the popular reality TV series during the season 14 reunion preview.
“I’m really pissed right now. So, I don’t want to answer any more questions, honestly … I am just so f–king sick of it,” Garcelle shouted in the clip as she walked off the stage.
She continued her rant backstage, “I can’t be friends with people like that. I don’t trust them. They’re all f–king a–holes.”
Garcelle joined the cast of RHOBH in 2020 and became the series’ first Black cast member. She later joked about joining the show and called it her “midlife crisis.”
“I feel like, ‘Why not?’ I wanted to do something outside of the box — it is sort of like my midlife crisis,” Garcelle told People during a January 2020 interview. “Instead of buying a Corvette or doing something crazy, I joined the Housewives.”
