The Wall Street Journal has reported that the retailer, which operates 80 stores within Canada, could file for bankruptcy very soon. The company was founded in 1670.
Their VP of Communications has stated that “We do not comment on rumour or speculation.”
They purchased Neiman Marcus last summer to form Saks Global. ONTDers were shocked that they had the money to do this, at the time.
This does not surprise retail experts as they note that today’s shoppers are used to the ~Amazon model~ and are not visiting department stores like previous generations.
