A man who left an absolutely INDELIBLE mark on both the television and animation worlds has passed away following a long battle with some unspecified illness, according to one of his friends via a Facebook post. Last year was the 30th anniversary of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast. I’m….absolutely, utterly heartbroken right now, y’all. We wouldn’t have Adult Swim without that show, or any of the countless media that was inspired by it during its’ 2+ decades on the air. There’s only one remaining (main) cast member left.
I had the pleasure of meeting him when I volunteered at a friend’s comic convention some years ago and laughed myself nearly into tears once again, listening to him recount the clip of Gilbert Gottfried’s legendary YOU FOOL trolling session on Hollywood Squares to some of the other people in the green room. I never knew him personally, but I’ve heard his voice most of my life and have gotten countless laughs out of it.
Go check out SGC2C, if you’ve never had the pleasure. I’m sure a lot of it hasn’t aged well, but overall it’s still an absolute delight. Gas Leak is probably the funniest episode if I had to pick one.
