Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively are set to reprise their starring roles as Stephanie Smothers and Emily Nelson, respectively. Additionally, fans will see Henry Golding return as Emily’s husband, Sean Townsend. Another Simple Favor picks up after Emily’s time in prison as she re-enters the life of former friend Stephanie to invite her to her extravagant wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman in Capri, Italy.
“Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square,” a film synopsis reads.
Is ‘Another Simple Favor’ Based on a Book?
A Simple Favor was based on the book of the same name by Darcey Bell. Darcey’s book did not have a sequel, so Another Simple Favor appears to be a completely original creation from screenwriters Jessica Sharzer and Laeta Kalogridis.
The Trailer for ‘Another Simple Favor’ Teases Murder and Revenge
Along with the release date and first-look photos from the film, a trailer was released for Another Simple Favor on February 26, 2025. The video opened with Stephanie promoting what appears to be a true crime novel or a memoir based on her story with Emily called The Faceless Blonde.
“I think about her all the time. The faceless blonde I thought I knew,” she said, reading an excerpt from the book. “Was she a glamorous PR executive or a cold-blooded killer?”
Emily shocked the crowd at the reading by making a surprise appearance, prompting Stephanie to ask, “Did you break out of prison?” Stephanie then asked Emily if she would be her maid of honor.
The trailer then showed scenes from the frenemies’ trip to Italy, with Stephanie expressing skepticism over why she was invited to the wedding. “Do you think I invited you to get revenge?” Emily asked. “For stealing my life and taking my kid away from me? You think I wanna make you pay?”
“I don’t know, do you?” Stephanie responded.
In another chilling scene, a body was rolled away on a stretcher, and chaos later ensued during the wedding festivities.
“If I do try to kill you, it would make an amazing sequel,” Emily told Stephanie.

Another Simple Favor is set to be released on Amazon Prime Video on May 1, 2025. Before the streaming release, it will premiere at the South by Southwest Festival on March 7, 2025.
