Ed Kelce sees nothing but good things in the future for his son Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.
“I think, you know, once we get past the Super Bowl, I think it’s going to be a very good period of time for the two of them,” Ed said during an appearance on Australia’s Today on Thursday, February 6. “Without the NFL season, without the Eras tour. Just them alone really connecting more. I think that can only be a good thing.”
The dad of two was also asked about the chances of Taylor, 35, making a surprise appearance at Super Bowl 2025’s halftime show, but he admitted he was out of the loop when it came to that particular situation.
“I have no idea,” Ed told hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo. “I haven’t talked to Taylor this week. I have no idea what her plans are. I would let her publicist talk to you about that.”
Swifties have been hoping for Taylor to take the stage during the halftime show for two years in a row. When it was announced that Kendrick Lamar would be performing at Super Bowl 2025, it fueled even more speculation that the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer might make a surprise appearance. Kendrick, 37, collaborated with Taylor in 2015 on her song “Bad Blood.”
However, Travis’ teammate and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes recently stomped on the hopes and dreams of Swifties around the world when he said he couldn’t see it happening.
“As long as Trav is playing and we are in the Super Bowl, that’s going to be hard for her to do the halftime show,” Patrick, 29, said during a Monday, February 3, press conference. “Hopefully Trav keeps playing and we keep making it to the Super Bowl.”
Ed was also asked about a possible engagement for Travis and Taylor during his interview, but he artfully dodged the question.
“Do you really think I’m going to come up with that?” Ed joked in reply.
Along with speculation about Taylor’s plans during halftime, fans have their fingers crossed that Travis might pop the question if the Chiefs take home their third Super Bowl championship in a row. A source recently revealed to Life & Style that “everyone in Travis and Taylor’s world assumes an engagement is coming.”
The insider continued, “A lot of people find it pretty extraordinary that it hasn’t happened already. He is so open about Taylor being The One. He wants to spend the rest of his life with her and vice versa. Taking Taylor aside after the game and asking her to marry him would be the ultimate romantic gesture.”
The “New Heights” host and Taylor began dating in the summer of 2023 after he attempted to shoot his shot and give her his phone number on a friendship bracelet when she performed at Arrowhead Stadium on July 7, 2023. He was disappointed to learn that the Grammy winner didn’t speak to people before or after her shows to preserve her voice so his mission failed. However, it appears that love was in the cards for Taylor and Travis regardless and they connected anyway. They’ve been happily dating ever since.
