Apparently this wasn’t a secret, the AI speech company posted about working on the movie months ago, but no one noticed it till editor Dávid Jancsó gave a recent interview talking about using AI, and now Film/Award twitter is pretty mad
what they used AI for:
Adrian Brody and Felicity Jones speaking hungarian (their characters are hungarian refugees), an AI tweaked their accents
“If you’re coming from the Anglo-Saxon world certain sounds can be particularly hard to grasp. We first tried to ADR these harder elements with the actors. Then we tried to ADR them completely with other actors but that just didn’t work. So we looked for other options of how to enhance it.”
Architectural drawings shown in the movie are also AI
Oscar voting ended yesterday
