One of Carrie Underwood’s “must haves” when she and husband Mike Fisher were designing their dream home back in 2016? A wood-burning fireplace.

Now, it’s the ideal place to warm up during the holiday season — including after hours spent ice-skating on the 400-acre Tennessee estate’s very own pond.

“Getting to play in the snow, getting to build a snowman, Santa, just getting to watch [my sons] feel the magic about Christmas is something that’s really special,” says the mom of Isaiah, 9, and Jacob, 5. “I feel like we all grow up and sometimes the holidays can be stressful, but when you look at it through their eyes, it’s just beautiful.”

In 2024, Carrie and the family are making new memories. “She has had a very busy year, but this is the time when Carrie turns all that off and just focuses on her husband and children,” an insider exclusively tells Life & Style. “She loves all the Christmas traditions, like setting up the tree and decorating the house. She tends to go over the top!”

Cooking up a storm is part of the festive fun. “Carrie spends hours in the kitchen. She really enjoys making her signature sweet potato casserole as well as Mike’s favorite dishes,” reveals the insider. “Mike gets his hands dirty, too. Sure, he’ll get on a ladder to put up lights, but he’s also often in the kitchen baking cookies.”

Of course, plenty of holiday music plays as the eight-time Grammy winner, 41, and the retired hockey pro, 44, go about their merry tasks. “I love the classics especially,” Carrie — who released her first Christmas album, My Gift, in 2020 — has said. “Some new songs always make the cut, but I’m a sucker for standard, classic Christmas songs: Bing Crosby, Elvis.”

According to the insider, the couple regularly invite family and friends over to share in the seasonal joy. “It’s the time of year to reconnect with loved ones,” adds the insider. “Everyone’s usually in such a good mood, and they’ll go around the room or table and each of Carrie and Mike’s guests will say what they’re grateful for.”

Aside from a happy home life, the singer has a lot to be grateful for professionally: “2024 was very good to Carrie, and she’s looking forward to 2025,” says the insider, noting the fit52 fitness app founder launched new faith-based and workout music SiriusXM channels, performed her first-ever concerts in Hawaii, re-joined the cast of American Idol and more over the past 12 months. “She still pinches herself for the life she has. It’s pretty perfect right now, and the holidays just bring it all together.”
