• Country hitmaker Shaboozey is also making his debut on the show tonight. Shaboozey is the first country musician to appear on the show since Chris Stapelton last season.

• SNL announced the last two hosts of the season earlier this week. Chris Rock is set to host on December 14 with pop nepo-girlie Gracie Abrams, and Martin Short finally gets his Five-Timers jacket on December 21 with musical guest Hozier.
• As one of the American Museum of Natural History’s trustees, every year Lorne Michaels corals the current cast, that week’s host and a bunch of friends to the annual gala at the museum in the middle of a show week.

• Since the gala is held at the museum cast members were able to explore exhibits and even got a sneak peek at a new dinosaur exhibit.

• Paul Mescal got the full SNL experience this week, partying it up before the big show.
• New York Magazine gets the party started early with the first wave of covers celebrating SNLs 50th anniversary. The covers were (obviously) shot by David LaChapelle and reunited dozens of cast members, writers, and legendary hosts.
• Current cast members James Austin Johnson, Sarah Sherman, Michael Che, and Marcello Hernandez join Nora Dunn, Kate McKinnon, Jane Curtain, Christopher Walken, Molly Shannon, Ellen Cleghorne, Sarah Silberman, Dana Carvey, and Alec Baldwin.
