Real Housewives of Salt Lake City newbie Bronwyn Newport and “friend of” cast member Britani Bateman have butted heads since the first episode of season 5. In a recent clip, Lisa Barlow said that she “knew [Bronwyn] didn’t like [Britani] because she thought [Britani] lied about being on Broadway.”
It all went down during the RHOSLC After Show that aired on Wednesday, December 4. The next shot featured Bronwyn, 39, having a discussion with costar Whitney Rose about Britani’s alleged lie.
“So, I am new in the Broadway world,” Bronwyn began. “I just produced my first show and I have two more coming out in the next season, so I’m not an expert, but I can definitely tell you, in my very short-lived Broadway experience, I have not come across Britani’s name in a Broadway capacity. I know she tells people that.”
Whitney, 38, interjected and asked if Britani, 51, had “claimed Broadway.”
“Very much so,” Bronwyn continued. “And I don’t believe the word ‘accoladed’ is a real word either. I know she uses that in her bio. That is a made-up word.”
Viewers then saw a title card that proved “accoladed” is actually a real word and Britani used it correctly. Bronwyn said she would “love to see what those accolades are,” as the Wild Rose Beauty founder said that while she has “supported local theater” in the Salt Lake City area, she had “never seen” Britani “perform.”
Britani defended her claims to Lisa, 49, and said that she and one of Andy Cohen’s friends “were in the same Broadway show together.” She then specified it was the “second national tour of ‘Miss Saigon.’”
“I can’t sing, and everyone’s seen me dance because it’s awful, so I’m not saying I’m a better performer than Britani, but I think you should be proud of what you’ve done and not exaggerate,” Bronwyn continued when the cameras returned to her and Whitney. “So, if Britani was in a touring production or a high school production or sings in her shower, then she should just keep it to that. She doesn’t need to say she was on Broadway if she wasn’t.”
However, Britani claimed that Bronwyn “told [her] off-camera that she knows that [she] knows that [she] did Broadway.” Lisa was visibly shocked at the confession.
“Then that’s, like, a lie because she’s vehement with me that you never did,” Lisa replied.
Bronwyn later added that “the shade” from her was because Britani was allegedly “exaggerating.”
“I think she’s probably a great performer. She’s probably a great singer,” Bronwyn said. “I mean, she’s probably in that world. I just don’t think she’s in that world to the level that she likes to tell everyone she is.”
The RHOSLC newcomer then joked that Britani should “come audition” for her before walking back the invitation because “that wouldn’t go well” for Britani.
Britani ended her conversation about her Broadway claims by saying that “Bronwyn lies.”
“I mean, she’s got [sic] busted in her lies, and I think that’s really embarrassing,” Britani claimed. “I just don’t know why she targets me with these lies.”
