Keith Papini has given his first interview regarding ex-wife Sherri Papini’s fake kidnapping. In 2016, Sherri mysteriously vanished from her home in California, prompting a massive search across the state. Months later, Sherri reappeared and claimed that two Latina women had trafficked her. Surprise, surprise, she made the entire thing up and had actually run away of her own volition. She even burned a brand into her own skin with a woodburning craft kit to make the hoax more convincing.
A California court sentenced her to 18 months in jail and a $300,000 fine. To this day, Sherri has never explained her actions. Keith’s interview coincides with the release of Hulu’s new docu-series about the incident, “The Perfect Wife.”
